From my article that I read it talked about smartphones becoming a new way of life and that there are many apps that pertain to health and physical fitness and technology is a strategy to help promote this idea. We need to embrace technology and use these apps as part of the health and fitness curriculum.
I can use what I learned about digital text and tell my students about apps that can help them become more healthy and physical fit. Choosemyplate.gov is a government based website that can help students be more knowledgeable about what and how much they are eating. There is also an app that you can use with choosemyplate.gov, so it is more mobile and on the go for teenagers to use in their busy life. There are numerous apps that I can explain to my students to help them and guide them to be more nutritious and be able to get up and move more.
Here is a link to my pinterest board that I created to help me plan my lesson plans for my students.

Hi Laura...what a great Pinterest board. There are so many creative and innovative teachers out there, including yourself, and I love how social media enables you all to connect to each other. I didn't know Choosemyplate.gov had an app, but that seems like an essential digital text to introduce to your students. There are so many crazy nutrition websites out there, that it's great you're helping your students to find reliable ones.
